Jack Parsons for me is the greatest unknown, ... I don't even know what to call him: a philosopher , a scientist, whatever he is. He was the greatest—one of the greatest people of the 20th century that no one knew about. Most people have heard of Buckminster Fuller, Albert Einstein, and, to some extent, Aleister Crowley. James Joyce. Jack Parsons is virtually unknown, although he, like no other, was responsible for the American space program and for man, in particular Neil Armstrong, setting foot on the moon. He is responsible for the entire space program. And he was one of the greatest libertarian philosophers who ever lived. His book, "Freedom is a Double-Edged Sword," seems to me to be one of the best expositions of libertarian philosophy ever written. And if I had a million dollars, I would print enough copies to put one in every home in the United States so everyone would have a chance to read it. I am a very ardent libertarian myself, but I disagree with most libertarians on many issues. Jack Parsons is the only libertarian in the 20th century with whom I agree on almost everything. There were some libertarians of the 19th century with whom I agree on almost everything, like Lysander Spooner, Ezra Haywood, Benjamin Tucker, but they are almost all forgotten, as is Jack Parsons. Libertarianism is not very popular, even though this country was founded on libertarian principles. Jack Parsons was not only a prominent libertarian philosopher and a great scientist, he was, , a very gifted, talented, philosophically minded, and intelligent occultist, which is hard for many to understand. Most people think you're either a scientist or an occultist, you can't be both. Jack Parsons is a classic example of being both .
